Mitlo’s lyrical skill is exciting and mesmerizing. He is known to make Sepedi Rap sound cool and captivating, and he delivers his lyrics in a way that has never been heard before. Mitlo is a musician who uses Sepedi to encourage authenticity and installs pride in people. His songs paint real-life experiences and resonate with listeners of all age groups, through his versatility in music-making. It is evident that his passion for music and storytelling is primarily expressed in songs like Stay, which is dedicated to his late mother. Stay, featuring Thabz the vocalist, is a beautifully constructed and delivered a song that even brought closure to the family.
As a teenager, Mitlo performed at school competitions such as beauty pageants, love life games, and such, but his first big stage performance was at Y-FM in 1999 when he performed with Oskido and Rude-Boy on Rap Activity Jam. Mitlo is currently on tour making media appearances to promote his debut album “Born For This”, and plans to embark on a marketing campaign in January 2023.
The biggest challenge for him was leaving his 9 to 5 job for a full-time career in music. He also mentioned that life is very different in the township when you decide to pursue your dreams and goals. Since most of the people in the township have been conditioned to believe a 9 to 5 job is the best way to make a living, no one will take you seriously if you decide to pursue careers such as music and arts. In fact, Mitlo’s family members and most of the people around him were opposed to his decision.
Consequently, he began to doubt himself and experienced some hesitation before taking the decision. He eventually made the decision and has never looked back since. A second challenge Milto faced was an identity crisis. According to him, during his upcoming days, everyone he met rapped in English and sounded the same, which made it difficult for him to differentiate himself from his competitors and reach his target audience. In the end, settling in Sepedi was the best decision he could have ever made and it led him to where he is today.

As he continues, he explains that the music he produces is usually focused on everyday life crises, narrated on the album. A number of his supporters always seek his advice and appreciate the way he inspires them through his music. His album Born For This is a reflection of this fact, as well as a confirmation that indeed he was born for this. His next step will be to develop music that touches people’s hearts, stay true to himself, and play a part in the music industry as a whole. According to him, there is a need for his type of music, because there is a nation to raise, children to guide, and wounds to heal.
