Competitions

The third round of games of the inaugural Gauteng Schools Football Champions League will take place on Wednesday, 23 August 2023, in Reiger Park in the City of Ekurhuleni, at the WJ Clements Stadium.  Two Tshwane based school teams currently hold the lead in the boys’ division, with Clapham High School at the top with 10 points followed by Rosina Sedibane School Of Specialization with 9.  Third place is shared between SAFA Sport School of Excellence (Germiston) and Bhukulani Senior Secondary School (Soweto), who each have 7 points.  The girls’ division has Jabulile Secondary School at the top with 10 points, followed by Kwadedangendlale Secondary School and KhanyaLesedi Secondary School in second with 7 points each.  Curro Academy and Tembisa High School have accumulated 6 and 5 points respectively, while the remainder of the competing female schools sit on 1 point each.  The participating schools are battling it out for the title of provincial champions that comes with a R100 000 cash prize at the league final in September.  The champion’s league is an extension of the School Sport Wednesday League Programme implemented by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, together with the Gauteng Department of Education, and is supported by SAFA Gauteng.
