What better way to treat the mother in your life and show her how special she is on Mother’s Day on May 14 than by treating her to a delicious lunch – and what’s even better you don’t have to prepare it yourself.
The Cradle Boutique Hotel’s executive chef Sam Ramokoka has devised a special menu featuring some firm favourites and classics.
Ramokoka says he owes everything to his mother Grace Ramokoka: “I am the person I am today because of my mother. I love Mother’s Day because these wonderful women who have raised us need to be thanked and paid tribute to.
“All mothers everywhere need to be recognised and appreciated for the love and care they give us. Remember that without mothers, we are nothing. I believe that on a daily basis, we need to put our mothers first, to appreciate and value them and make them aware that we acknowledge that they are the ones who took care of us and shaped us into the people we are.
“The menu that I created for this Mother’s Day at the Cradle Boutique Hotel is made up mostly of hearty food, reminiscent of the kind of meal that a family should share together. That’s why my menu says to everyone, let’s get together, sit around a table and eat delicious food while we appreciate our mothers, and make them aware that we love and adore them and make them feel that Mother’s Day is theirs.”

The Cradle Boutique Hotel Mother’s Day lunch will be served on Sunday, May 14, from 12.30pm.

The Greater Cradle Nature Reserve (GCNR) is a unique ecotourism destination with a hotel situated in a reserve which is the home to two active anthropological sites unearthing hominid fossils. However, there’s nothing antiquated about what’s happening in the kitchen of the modern 220-seater restaurant with its unparalleled views of a breath-taking Highveld landscape. It’s the perfect place to celebrate this Mother’s Day.
Every cent spent at the GCNR is poured back into conservation, education and the protection of the Cradle Foundation. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday to Sunday. Bookings on +27 87 353 9599
