Step away from the doom-scrolling, your neurotic neighbourhood WhatsApp groups, and worrying about whether AI or aliens will take over first, and instead, buckle up for a night of wildly hilarious comedy: real, relevant, and so funny it’ll reset your inner child.
On Friday, 21 November 2025, Delta Park School in Blairgowrie becomes centre stage for laughter, hosting the hottest comedy line-up Johannesburg has seen in a long time: Chris Forrest, Richelieu Beaunoir, Q Dube, and Eric Jansen. Four masters of timing, truth, sharp social observation, whip-smart wit and the kind of comedy that punches up… not down.
Purpose Beyond Punchlines
This event also carries a powerful social purpose. The night doubles as a fundraiser to support Delta Park educator and first-time author Desmond Matlaila, whose memoir Eye Captured My Life shares his personal journey of trauma, loss, rebuilding and rediscovery after permanently losing sight in his left eye following a traumatic incident in 2016.
Proceeds from Comedy Night at Delta Park will contribute to covering the costs of bringing Matlaila’s book to publication — enabling him to share his message of resilience, mental wellness, disability awareness, hope, and healing with South Africa and beyond.
Comedy may heal through laughter — but on this night, it will also help change a life.
The Line-up
Chris Forrest
A founding father of South African stand-up, Chris Forrest has been making audiences laugh since before social media turned every second person into a motivational speaker. Known for his straight-faced delivery and whip-smart wit, Chris is a veteran of stages across South Africa and abroad. Also a MasterChef SA Celebrity Winner, Chris’s brand of humour is clean, cerebral, and impossible to imitate.
Richelieu Beaunoir
A force of charisma, chaos, and pure comedic precision, Richelieu Beaunoir is a regular on Comedy Central Presents, Blacks Only Comedy, and more festivals than he can remember. Richelieu blends sharp observation with fearless improvisation and is as quick with cultural insight as he is with a comeback; delivering humour that’s bold, magnetic, and instantly memorable.
Q Dube
Nqobizitha Mitchel Dube, better known as Q Dube, is Zimbabwe’s finest comedic export — and possibly the only man who can roast three continents in one set. Winner of the NAMA Stand-up Comedian of the Year (2017) award, Q’s résumé includes festivals like HIFA, SHOKO, Johannesburg International Comedy Festival, and Bushfire Festival. He has shared stages with Trevor Noah, Basketmouth, and Anne Kansiime, holding his own with effortless charm and wicked precision.
Eric Jansen
Raw, unfiltered, and part of SA’s next generation of comedic firepower, Eric Jansen takes everyday chaos and turns it into laugh-out-loud truth bombs. Whether it’s township life, tech meltdowns, or romantic disasters, Eric says what everyone is thinking… just in a funnier way.

About the Author: Desmond Matlaila
Born in Limpopo and raised in Johannesburg, Matlaila currently works at Delta Park School — a remedial school supporting learners with special educational needs. In June 2016, a traumatic event during a visit home resulted in the permanent loss of vision in his left eye. His memoir, Eye Captured My Life, explores his journey through shock, grief, emotional recovery, spiritual growth, identity, disability, acceptance, and hope. After a serious car accident in 2024 forced him to use his publishing savings for medical repairs, he is now fundraising towards bringing this powerful story into print.
