The day before your trip, you will receive an educational e-booklet on the area and what you can expect in terms of wildlife. Once you are on the boat, you will be handed a complementary hard copy booklet to refer to.
The trip itself takes between 3 and 4 hours. If you are in Simon’s Town, the boat ride will take 25 minutes and if you’re in Gansbaai, it will take around 10 minutes. Depending on weather conditions and shark sightings, you can expect to spend 20-30 minutes in the cage. If time allows, all guests can enter the cage for a second time. When looking for wildlife on your trip, don’t forget to look up. The ocean is also home to an array of sea birds including the Cape Cormorant and Bank Cormorant.
