The stage is set for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa, with SuperSport geared up to broadcast all the action from Friday as part of a great summer of cricket.
With 10 teams due to play 23 fixtures, competition is sure to be fierce, particularly among top teams England, champions Australia, and India with gritty South Africa all sure to turn up the heat.
Three famous venues, all at the coast, will host the matches: Newlands, St George’s Park, and Boland Park, all of which hosted ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup fixtures 20 years ago.
The broadcasts, to be produced by the International Cricket Council, will be largely female-led and include half-hour build-ups.
Post-match, the broadcasts will include shots of the players leaving the field, scorecards, the Player of the Match interview, followed by the points table and a recap of the winning moment.
ICC TV will then come back on air for the conclusion, which will include interviews with both captains, a brief round-up of the match and a look ahead to the next one.
The ICC Women’s World Cup is one of four major pillars of SuperSport’s “Here for Her” campaign that is dedicated to creating awareness, engagement, talkability and promoting the outstanding achievements of women in sport both locally and abroad.
SuperSport’s Social Corner will feature an all-female cast, including Nqobile Mahlambi, Kelsey Petersen Bontle Modiselle, Zenande Funani and Hlubi Radebe for selected fixtures.
