Peace Mabe, Deputy Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Empowers Rural Youth for G20 Summit

South Africa proudly marks a historic moment as the first African nation to host the G20 Summit in 2025. As part of this monumental achievement, the Youth 20 (Y20) — the official youth engagement group of the G20 — plays a central role in amplifying the voices, aspirations, and ideas of young people across the country and the continent.

Under the 2025 theme, “Youth Building Bridges: Uniting for Solidarity, Championing Equality, Driving Sustainability,” the Y20 process serves as a powerful platform for young leaders to contribute toward shaping global policy and advancing collective prosperity. This year’s Y20 agenda emphasises key priorities including youth empowerment, creative innovation, social cohesion, equity, and sustainable development.

To ensure inclusivity and meaningful youth participation, the Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture has embarked on a Rural Youth Engagement Roadshow across all provinces. This initiative seeks to inform, inspire, and mobilise young people — particularly in rural and underrepresented communities — to participate in shaping South Africa’s G20 position. Through these engagements, young creatives, innovators, and youth leaders are encouraged to contribute their voices, talents, and solutions towards shaping a dynamic and sustainable future.

This programme officially launches in Gauteng, serving as the starting point for the national rollout. The inaugural engagement will take place in Bronkorspruit on 5 November 2025 at the Enkangala Community Hall, marking the launch pad for this nationwide youth mobilisation and empowerment journey. This platform will enable young people from Gauteng and surrounding areas to participate, exchange ideas, and champion innovation, unity, and sustainable development.
