– Fast-rising Afropop sensation Miona has officially released her long-awaited debut album, Inganono, a heartfelt 10-track project that brings together powerful storytelling, rich African sounds, and deep emotional truth.
This milestone comes hot on the heels of her much-loved single Isthembu, which features KwaZulu-Natal’s celebrated musician Siya Ntuli. The single stirred excitement among fans and set the perfect tone for the full album.
Inganono features powerful collaborations with well-respected names including Bab’Ntokozo Zungu, Musiholiq, and Zyamqhuksa. It’s a body of work drawn from Miona’s own love experiences, life lessons, and cultural roots. The album carries a distinct sound influenced by traditional Zulu music legends like Ladysmith Black Mambazo, blended seamlessly with modern Afropop and maskandi elements.
“This album means the world to me,” says Miona. “Each song is a chapter from my personal journey – from heartbreak to healing, from struggle to self-love. It’s about what I’ve seen, what I’ve felt, and what I know many others go through too.”
Two standout singles from the album, Inganono and Ukiss, reflect the emotional range fans can expect. Inganono dives into the more complex, painful side of love – jealousy, betrayal, and emotional conflict – while Ukiss reminds listeners of the gentle, beautiful side of romance and the warmth that love can bring. Both tracks have already sparked deep conversations among fans, resonating with their real-life experiences.
“People are connecting with the honesty in Inganono,” Miona explains. “There’s so much happening in relationships today – jealousy, even violence. I wanted to speak on that. But I also wanted to bring back the love, so Ukiss brings softness, passion, and hope back into the mix.”
With this release, Miona is setting her sights on the global stage. Her dreams go beyond borders – she hopes to collaborate with fellow African artists across the continent, earn international recognition, and most importantly, use her music to inspire and uplift.
“I want to be on big stages, on billboards, in hearts. I want my voice to change lives.. That’s the dream,” she shares.
As Inganono begins its journey into the world, fans can look forward to more from Miona soon – including new collaborations, a national tour, and even a second album on the horizon. Miona is set to host the launch of her album on the 27th Of April in Bryaston.
