The Makhelwane Festival returns this December, transforming Soweto into a vibrant hub of music, art, food, and business. Running from 20 to 22 December 2024, this three-day extravaganza will feature a dynamic line-up of artists, activities, and cultural experiences across multiple venues.
With events hosted at Native Rebels in Jabavu on Friday, and on Poka Street in Orlando West on Saturday and Sunday, the festival promises something for everyone—from thrilling music performances to a family-friendly kiddies market.

Calling All Street Vendors!
The Makhelwane Festival warmly welcomes street vendors to participate in this vibrant celebration. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your products to a diverse and enthusiastic audience.
Set-Up and Operation Times
• Set-Up: 08:00 – 11:00
• Operation: 12:00 – 00:00
Stall Fees
• Craft Vendors: R500 per day (R800 for the weekend)
• Food Vendors: R700 per day (R1,200 for the weekend)
Accreditation
• Each stall receives three tags. Additional tags must be purchased at the current ticket price. Unauthorised access will result in denial of extra accreditation.
Requirements for Food Stalls
• Valid Certificate of Acceptability (COA). Assistance available upon request.
• Tablecloth, hairnet, gloves, and garbage bags.
• Gas users must have a valid (non-expired) fire extinguisher.
Electricity
• Please note: Electricity will not be provided by the venue.
