In a moment of profound recognition for African artistry and social impact, multi-award-winning musician and producer TRESOR has been named among the 2025 laureates of the prestigious Res Publica International Awards. The accolade celebrates individuals and organisations whose work exemplifies civic courage and the advancement of global harmony. This year, the Res Publica jury turned its attention to four areas of influence: peace and solidarity, environmental harmony, ethical journalism, and the courage of art — with TRESOR walking away as the recipient of their “Courage of Art” award.

Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and based in South Africa, TRESOR’s journey has long been one of resilience, transformation, and hope. Through his distinctive sound that bridges African heritage with global pop sensibilities, he has used music as both an act of storytelling and social change. The Res Publica jury praised TRESOR for his “artistic and courageous talent to guide public opinion in the struggle to end war and violence in Africa,” affirming his music’s role as a vessel for peace and collective healing.
“On October 25, 2025, I was deeply honoured and humbled to receive The Courage of Art Award from Premio Res Publica in Italy. This recognition is a reminder of why I create, and who I create for. Through art, I’ve found a way to shift the narrative of refugees and African youth to one that tells stories of resilience, beauty, and hope. This is a lifelong purpose, and I look forward to many more great things to come,” shares TRESOR.
The 2025 awards ceremony took place this past weekend in Mondovì, Italy, where TRESOR joined an esteemed group of honourees including the Carabinieri, the elite police military group of Italy, awarded for their long outstanding service to their nation.

For TRESOR, this recognition is testament to the transformative power of African music on the world stage. It underscores his unwavering commitment to creating art that inspires unity and progress, amplifying Africa’s contribution to the global discourse on peace and social justice. His journey from the heart of the Congo to international acclaim continues to stand as a symbol of what is possible when purpose meets artistry.
