Scrooge KmoA announces new AfroTech single With You inspired by timeless connection

In a sonic climate where producers are often chasing trends, Scrooge KmoA continues to follow his own frequency. The Soweto-born artist, known for his immersive AfroHouse and AfroTech compositions, is set to release his latest single With You on 27 June 2025 via BlaqDiamondBoyz Music, with distribution by Africori.

The song, described as one of his most emotional releases yet, is a lush, atmospheric meditation on love, memory, and presence. Built on hypnotic percussion, textured ambient pads, and understated melodies, With You signals a deeper and more intentional phase in Scrooge’s creative journey.

“When I made this track, I wasn’t chasing a hit — I was documenting a feeling,” says Scrooge. “It’s about that moment when the world just stops. You’re not thinking about yesterday or tomorrow. You’re with someone, the sun is setting, and it feels like the universe paused just for you.”

The track’s narrative revolves around a couple standing on a shoreline, overwhelmed by the simplicity and beauty of being together. In his words, “She didn’t need to say much. Just those three words — ‘With you’ — and I understood everything.”

This emotional depth is nothing new for Scrooge KmoA, born Karabo Mokoena, who has spent over ten years cultivating a sound that merges tribal energy with meditative stillness. Starting his music career as a DJ with an ear for rare global grooves, he later taught himself production through Reason 5 — evolving into a multidisciplinary sound architect with a growing body of work that includes Zimele, Imizwa, Ukuqonda, and Who is Who.

His collaborations with Khanya De Vocalist, Cuba Beats, and Nelle SA have garnered critical attention, while projects like Masingita with Lolo Diva and co-production credits for Samthing Soweto have earned him credibility in both underground and commercial spaces .

Earlier in 2025, he released Ubukhosi, a two-track AfroTech journey featuring Khanya De Vocalist. That release hinted at a more mature, emotionally honest era — and With You continues that path with quiet confidence.

“People feel safe in sound,” he adds. “I try to create music that gives people something to return to. That’s what With You is for me — a return to self, a return to someone, a return to stillness.”
