The Tiger Brands Foundation and Tiger Brands SED will be hosting a major community initiative to promote food hygiene and safety through a comprehensive Food Handler Training programme for local community members.
The training will be held at Kagiso Secondary School in the West Rand from Monday, October 6th, to Friday, October 10th, 2025, in partnership with Tiger Brands Limited. 55 food handlers from 11 schools across the area will be empowered with essential food safety skills. By strengthening their knowledge, the training ensures that thousands of learners who depend on school meals each day receive meals that are prepared safely and hygienically.
The Foundation’s commitment goes beyond providing nutritious meals through our in-school breakfast programme; it extends to empowering communities with the skills needed to ensure sustainable food safety.
By bringing this vital training to Kagiso Schools, we are creating a convenient, central hub for food handlers to receive accredited certification and elevate the standard of food preparation across the schools.
The five-day programme will cover essential food safety regulations, personal hygiene, cross-contamination prevention, and time and temperature control, equipping participants with the knowledge needed to maintain safe and high-quality food for learners.
Thanks to Tiger Brands Ltd SED for funding this programme that protects the health of learners, uplifts families, and strengthens communities while reinforcing the vital link between nutrition, education, and opportunity.
